Arm Lift

Arm Lift Surgery with Dr. Walter Erhardt in Albany, Georgia

Weight fluctuations and natural aging can diminish the shape and tone of your arms. An arm lift is a surgical procedure used to remove excess fat and skin from the upper arms. Also known as brachioplasty, this procedure can give you a slimmer, more contoured look.

Dr. Walter Erhardt is a board-certified plastic surgeon with years of experience performing arm lift surgery. Through advanced body contouring techniques, he can restore and enhance the shape and tone of your arms.

Benefits of Arm Lift Surgery

  • If you're self-conscious about your arms or feel restricted to wearing certain clothing, arm lift surgery may be able to improve your confidence and body image.
  • Arm lift surgery can be used to remove and reshape excess skin and fat present on the upper arms. The end result is a more toned appearance.
  • Loose, excess skin is often an unfortunate side effect of major weight loss. Bariatric patients or those who have lost weight through traditional diet and exercise may benefit from additional arm contouring.

As a general rule, the best candidates for arm lift surgery are healthy, non-smokers who have realistic expectations. Additionally, if you're considering arm lift surgery after major weight loss, you should be at a stable, healthy weight for at least six months.

How Arm Lift Surgery Works

Your consultation: During your consultation, it's important to be honest and upfront about your medical history, cosmetic expectations and recovery goals. Your consultation will begin with a physical exam, followed by an in-depth discussion of arm surgery. You will also have the opportunity to view Dr. Erhardt's gallery of before and after patient photos.

Surgery: An arm lift is typically performed under general anesthesia. For those who only require a minor arm lift, incisions can be concealed within the armpit. In more significant arm lifts, incisions will extend from the armpit to the elbow. Through these incisions, Dr. Erhardt will remove excess skin and fat. When at all possible, Dr. Erhardt will conceal incisions within the natural contours of your arms.

Healing time: You will experience some bruising, swelling and discomfort for a couple of weeks. This can be managed through a combination of prescription medication and compression garments. Recovery times vary, but you should be able to resume most activities with 10 days. Strenuous activity should avoided for about a month.

Expected Results: An arm lift can give you slimmer, younger-looking arms. In addition to physical improvements, most patients also benefit from enhanced self-confidence and body image. Maintaining a healthy diet and exercise plan will increase the probability of long-lasting results. It is important to note that permanent scarring is inevitable.Your scars will appear raised and pigmented, gradually fading and flattening over the course of 12-18 months.
